Greetland rainfall
The inspiration behind rainfall was seeing large drops of rain gather on the ground, punctuating the surface with darker tones until the whole area was altered.
The layers of changing tones create a soft and varied aesthetic, as does the distortion of looking through a rain-drenched window. The image below, found on instagram is grainy, yet perfect. It epitomises the thoughts in my mind at the time I developed the design. Layers of colour de-saturated by the rain and the mist. Soft and strong edges of architectural shapes giving balance to the whole image.
The rain on the glass adds a different element to the view. The raindrops appear light when there is darkness behind them, and dark when there is lightness.
The finished design, showing the colour way birch, creates an all over random effect. There are areas of calmness as well as the soft angular characteristics. The colour is reminiscent of sandstone and compliments cool tones as well as warmer ones.
